First Ever Opportunity To Book-Review: Another Chance

“Another Chance” is indeed a relatable story. The most likable traits of book are its modern backdrop, honest scene upholding and a fast pace.

Modern backdrop is of today’s young world where search of love hits late to work-oriented class but it does for sure!

Honest scene of very genuine situations and no extremism to pour in any deliberate fiction.

A Fast pace which hooks a mere reader like me till 4 am in morning. Yes, I finished in one shot *could not wait for end*.

Every reader will identify with at least one incident mentioned in the book. Whether it is being stalked by a nut-head with political links or a geek falling in love with spoiled brat pretty chick or whether it is being today’s culture to get tempted with MBA styled work dynamism and yet hating it.

Young lives today are much more independent and aware. This book speaks realistically about youth and their love cravings, their early success and their struggle to strike a balance between work and life.

Author takes up this interesting story from Ruheen’s point of you. She is a free bird and beauty as hell. She smokes her loneliness in fags and grabs life with both hands whenever it opens doors for her. But it does come with certain risk and when it is risk, it is of certain value. She pays this value many a times which by every means is very realistic. She makes her choices and suffers the result. Yet, the lady blossoms because she understands the worth of true love. True love strikes and she does not perform any delay in clasping it in her palm.

Half the book is read and you are already having a happy ending. A Reader like me will wonder what is actually there in rest 150 pages. Well, that is where life starts. The most beautiful part of the write up is that it is practical and very ultra fast paced. This ultra pace sometimes, becomes a little twisted with a plot. The engaging capability of book is impressive. There are no signs of deliberate descriptions of trivial notions.

Though very minute details like “A smile came to her face with his day-old stubble poking her bare shoulder” are so much prevalent to strike a chord. You will be completely withdrawn to book by the time it is Part III and it is really hard to put down the book as there are many places where you may find that “Yeah, this is it” while the story makes it way with steep turns’ leaving reader more perplexed and engaged.

By the time, reader has left with last 50 unread pages stack, one can agonize with all the souls in book. There are so many temptations in between where predictability haunts but author gives it a very simple and subtle touch of phenomenon. Author makes way for the justified reactions and immerged emotions. Though it may seem quiet dicey on certain aspects like “Aditya spending night with his hot colleague Mallika in same hotel room without making out with her” but you get convinced as the story takes place. In the hindsight, Story and emotions crafted in book, takes over the bollywood brain inside.

Situations are very upbeat and near to life. Book grips you because it does not stay at one place for long. Very brief encounters are explained which are negligible to imagination and takes heart away.

All in all, a worth try for Friday night to indulge in love, twist and engaging pace.

  3. Hi Rachna, chanced upon your blog and I am impressed that you find the time out of your work to update it regularly :)

Just a few points about the above quality of the review(hope you don't mind my nit-picking :D)

You write in one complete paragraph:

"Though very minute details like “A smile came to her face with his day-old stubble poking her bare shoulder” are so much prevalent to strike a chord. You will be completely withdrawn to book by the time it is Part III and it is really hard to put down the book as there are many places where you may find that “Yeah, this is it” while the story makes it way with steep turns’ leaving reader more perplexed and engaged."

Although I understood in totality what you wanted to say and it does make me want to read the book but the structure of the sentences is awkward, like using 'Though' to begin the para doesn't fit what you seem to be saying in the remaining paragraph.

"one can agonizes with all the souls in book" - grammatical error

"Very brief encounters are explained which are negligible to imagination and takes heart away." - I did not understand what this line means.

Again I would like to say that the gist of the review you wrote struck a chord but in the spirit of improvement, I would say that some sentences have a very jarring effect and it confuses the reader if you are praising or criticizing ;)

Thanks and keep up the good work,
    Kshitij
